100 Days of Writing: Day 11

It’s still happening. Super weird. Just 504 words but I’m gonna high-five myself anyway.

Finally finished Wild, Wild Country–they ended strong with Sheela. I am openly admitting it was only until the last few minutes of episode 3 when I finally had to say the cult was in the wrong, which means I sat through at least a couple of hours thinking what’s so bad with this group? It kind of scares me, in a way, but also, their utopian vision is so seductive to me.

Is it possible? Does human nature always get in the way? Does power always corrupt? If the group had tried being good neighbors and wore less color-coordinated clothes, would it have helped? What’s up with the red thing anyway? These are mostly stupid questions in the face of the crimes actually committed but still, compelling, compelling stuff.
