Let me tell you all about how I installed Instagram to promote my novel during the Philippine Book Festival 2025 and how I quickly descended back into scrolling hell like it was yesterday. Sneaky motherfucker!
Well, that was the long and short of it. I still need to schedule maybe 10 posts for the month on IG and FB just to keep things fresh and on people’s minds but otherwise it had been fun seeing so many young people flock to buy books by Filipino authors. We either never had these kinds of things when I was younger or the news of any Filipino-centric festival just never got to my part of town.
I have an Anime Faves playlist that compiles some anime opening and closing songs that make me feel hyped up. You can betcha Creepy Nuts is there. One Piece openers are always bangers. I have FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood songs, HunterxHunter, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Psycho-Pass. I even have Lilith from Elfen Lied which is more transporting than hyping, but it works with the lot.
Past couple of days have been incredibly hard motivation-wise, so I think I better start looking at some of the health stuff. Getting to bed earlier than usual and then reading a book in bed with a red light on while listening to MyNoise’s car interior ambient sound seemed to work yesterday. I was out before 11 I guess, because I woke up at 5 and did not feel like all the suffering of the world is pushing against me.
I even meditated, took a bath in the cold of morning, did my calf and lateral arm raises, which is absolutely phenomenal compared to yesterday’s uncharacteristic very unfertile-like behavior (I was fertile on the clock, but there was some pain and a doomed kind of mood).
But the truth is, it’s 6:48 AM and I am really procrastinating getting to my novella. I’m so scared of it! I have such high ambitions for it and I just know, I just know I’m not going to be able to do as well as I’d like. Pero ano pa ba’ng natitira? I’ve run out of excuses now.
I guess we write.
